It has been a long time since I have posted!  I've been busy with painting classes and workshops and have many paintings started but none finished to post.  So I will be catching up this week.  

This painting was started during a plein air workshop at the botanical garden.  The gazebo is well hidden by bushes and flowers.

A wrong turn took me past this house with a wall of ivy nearly covering the windows.  The contrast of the shadows from the surrounding trees and sun glowing on the ivy really lit up the house.

I'm always amused when I see paintings of PBJ sandwiches.  I always wonder if it was the artists lunch!  But I have never seen a painting of a gluten free PBJ sandwich so I thought I would give it a try.   Since I'm not a fast painter, it was my breakfast.  :)

The pic for this painting was actually taken a few years ago.  I liked the shape of the urn on my neighbor's porch and how the sun lit up the flowers.  My painting instructor thought this would be good practice for me to improve on my perception of values.  "Squint and compare!"

As I was driving around in farm area taking pictures for potential paintings (more barns!), I discovered that country roads often just become someones driveway.  The sun was just perfect, lighting the side of the house and trees and making long afternoon shadows on a fall day.

Saw this building glowing in the sunshine while I was painting the previous "1889" building.  Now housing the local newspaper offices, the building originally was a bakery and confectionary on the ground floor with offices and apartments on the upper floors.

Painted on a sunny fall day sitting at a picnic table on the court house lawn.  Now for the history lesson:  the Marshall Block Building, built in 1889 (hence the title) was named in honor of Supreme Court Justice John Marshall.  It has been occupied by attorney's ever since.

For my cow loving daughter. If I can paint Pink-Pink's and my Fishy, I suppose I can paint cows, too.
